News Flash: First-ever Mindfulness Ambassador Councils in Nigeria

High school students and faculty of Creative Minds International Academy in Jos, High Plateau State, have launched the first-ever Mindfulness Ambassador Council in Nigeria in collaboration with Between Four Eyes senior teachers. 

Vision

The Mindfulness Ambassador Council, a Between Four Eyes initiative, is a non-faith based project that invites senior students to further mindful awareness practices in their school setting.  Student members are responsible to act as 'mindfulness ambassadors' and promote the practices of mindful awareness, kindness, compassion, and empathy.  Ambassadors are encouraged to think of ways that will have a positive impact on reality and give birth to a better example for how life should be within the context of their school, families and broader community.

Mindfulness Ambassador Councils meet in school, on a weekly basis, to discuss ways in which mindful awareness can be integrated into current African thought.  Ambassadors are encouraged to live at their highest potential and to act as role models to other students, at all times. 

According to Emmanuel Ivorgba, the school's founder, "Mindfulness Ambassadors will be encouraged to keep journals for personal reflection and to capture stories on new learning's and insights."  Practical mindfulness tools that correspond to contemporary African thought will be integrated into educational curriculum and students will act as youth leaders to share best practices with other students.  Council members will be a catalyst to establish similar circles in other schools, youth groups, and the larger community as the project unfolds.
