
mindfulness ambassador councils initiative: rwanda, nigeria & israel
The Mindfulness Ambassador Council (mac) is a non-faith based in-school initiative that offers senior level high school students the opportunity to meet and explore the practices of mindful awareness as a pathway to addressing personal, school and community transformation. A series of 15 council meetings are structured according to the basic tenants of mindful awareness and social-emotional literacy that will strengthen human relationships, mutual understanding and authentic connection. Students are encouraged to make living mindfully a life-long learning process and to be the messengers of mindfulness to their communities, hence mindfulness ambassadors.
pre-service and in-service teacher training: curriculum for colleges and ministry of education in rwanda & nigeria
The B4E Social-Emotional Learning and Mindful Awareness Educational Curriculum is a teacher training module for pre-service teachers at Colleges of Education and in-service teachers associated to the Ministry of Education. The curriculum goals include helping teachers understand their emotions, provides tools to manage emotions and behavior, expand the repertoire of skills for stress management, and help teachers to integrate social and emotional literacy in their classrooms and in everyday life.
e-diplomacy exchange: conflict resolution and mindfulness: israel & rwanda
The E-Diplomacy project creates a unique opportunity for an e-exchange between IDC Master’s students of Diplomacy & Conflict Resolution and undergraduate students from the Center for Conflict Management at the National University of Rwanda, allowing them to explore their individual insights and experiences related to reconciliation, conflict resolution and peace-building processes. After completing the two-semester accredited course, ten Israeli student participants will attend a 3-week student exchange program in Rwanda. In 2011, the E-Diplomacy Exchange plans for Rwandan participants to visit their counterparts in Israel.

Five-day certificate of mastery workshops for educators and administrators are scheduled with new strategic partner, Teachers Without Borders, the largest global alliance that supports teachers worldwide. On-line curriculum with teacher support, daily lesson plans and a global on-line community will provide educational options where there were previously none.

B4E will provide online educational courses on Mindful Awareness and Social-Emotional literacy to teachers, high school students, parents, healthcare provides, and stakeholders for independent learning. Interactive lessons, assignments, one-to-one support and online discussions will be featured as part of our e-learning options.
mindfulness into policy: advocating for nonviolence
In countries, where flogging and corporal punishment are still means of addressing student misbehavior, B4E is proposing new Student Codes of Conduct, which advocates nonviolent communication, mindfulness and the practice of conflict resolution in educational settings

B4E is part of the strategic development team for the center for mind, life and society, to facilitate dialogue between scientists and contemplatives from traditions of the world.

All Teacher Training and Student Resource Guidebooks will undergo a publication revision and translation into five languages: English, French, Kinyarwanda, Hebrew and Arabic.

Dr. Sigal Zilcha, under the supervision of Professor Mario Mikulincer, Dean of the New Psychology Department at the Interdisciplinary Center, is developing an empirical study on the psychosocial and physical effects of B4E Social-Emotional Learning & Mindful Awareness programs on individual's adjustment, functioning, and growth.
